As we begin the year 2020 let us take into cognisance that our state of consciousness matters to God. I received this message while in prayer on New Year’s Day and I believe that it is a message that God want us to hear with our inner spirit and really take it to heart that we may truly prosper in the new year.
When we wish each other prosperity in the new year, often enough we say the words out of habit, “Have a Prosperous New Year”. Prosperity begins in the mind, in your state of consciousness. Your state of consciousness allows you to enter and possess your promised land. We are all capable of crossing the threshold and living a prosperous life, however, it doesn’t just come.
The journey of the Israelites from Egypt was all about entering this promised land, the land flowing with milk and honey and what we know about this land from the lips of Moses to Israel is that it is a land - "with great and splendid cities they did not build, with houses full of every good thing with which they did not fill, with wells that they did not dig, and with vineyards and olive groves that they did not plant and he says additionally to them that when they eat and are satisfied, to be careful not to forget the LORD who brought them out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.…" (Paraphrased from Deuteronomy 6:11).
The land had everything they could ever need or want, however, their state of consciousness had to get them there. This is the consciousness that is pure, believing and trusting in the Lord, the state of mind that only saw what the Lord showed and told them about the place and nothing else.
It means that, anything else that could possibly be there, was never a deterrent to possessing the land. The focus should, thus, be only on what God says. His Word is all that we need. His Word contain His promises and He declares in Isaiah 55:11, “so My word that proceeds from My mouth will not return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I please, and it will prosper where I send it”.
Numbers 23:19 gives us even greater comfort when it says, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfil?”
We therefore, know for certain that what God has said He would do, He will surely do but He needs us to be in a state of consciousness that is conducive for receiving all that He has for us. You may not have prosperity nor possess the promised land if you have a consciousness that is not ready for it or which is not in harmony with God.
In Numbers 13, we are told about spies that were sent by Moses to survey the land of Canaan, leaders from each tribe of Israel, and on their return, they gave this report, “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. Nevertheless, the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover, we saw the descendants of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.” (Numbers 13:27-29).
We learn further in the scriptures that only Joshua and Caleb had a different state of consciousness that was required to possess the land of milk and honey. They focused only on the promises of God and what they expected to see and not on the potential obstacles. They knew that with God, every impediment was overcome, the barriers were already removed by God Himself. God cannot send you to own the land without making it possible for you to do so.
Get rid of fear in your mind and concentrate on what God is showing you. When you run a race, you keep in your lane and put your focus on the finishing line no matter who is next to you. Paul says in Hebrews 12:1-2, “let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith”.
Out of the twelve men who went to spy the land of Canaan, only Joshua and Caleb entered it because their state of consciousness was pure. It was a consciousness that God required to work with. The Lord doesn’t need grumblers to fulfil His purpose, you delay your own destiny by complaining all the time and not focusing on the goal that God has set for you. When you keep your eyes on Him alone and what He says, you will never go wrong in life and you will surely reach your promised land.
Prosperity has been set for us from beginning to the end, however, to enjoy it means that you have to have the right mindset, otherwise it will elude you. You will only see it from afar. When you question too much and are full of anger, resistance, spite, jealousy, hatred and fear, prosperity will only be a dream.
The Bible says that God carries us the way a father carries his son (Deuteronomy 1:31). This is an illustration that most of us can identify with. Every child feels save in the arms of his father and the father is able to carry his own child and protect him no matter how long the journey is without tiring.
When you tell a child to do something, they do it without complaining and they believe and trust you. This is the mindset that is essential for you to get hold of all that God has in store for you this year.
Our thoughts, words and deeds are detrimental to us being who God has called us to be. Jesus says in Matthew 18:3, "Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven”. Children are innocent and take things easily knowing that they will be taken care of. They do not keep grudges in their hearts and are easy to forgive. Their hearts are pure.
The generation of the Israelites that protested against Moses never saw the promised land. They died in the wilderness but those who followed God wholeheartedly entered Canaan. These were people with the right mindset, their consciousness was not contaminated by what others were saying against God or their leader, Moses.
We know from the Bible that leaders are accountable to God. Hebrews 13:17 also teaches us as follows, “Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you” (Hebrews 13:17).
As you begin this new year, look into your heart and let go of everything that is holding you back. The kingdom of heaven is not over there but right in our midst (Luke 17:21) and we are capable of living in it right at this moment when we have the right consciousness for it.
God has already given us everything for daily living. 2 Peter 1:3 says, “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence”. We are therefore able to live in that consciousness by making a decision to do so.
Finally, Romans 12:2, thus, says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will”. Amen
