July 17, 2017 by Kgalalelo
From the beginning of when I began my blog in February 2017, I kept on thinking whether it would be well received in all circles of life where I was involved in and I struggled every single day thinking that it might not be, the topics I write about are taken from all kinds of experiences I have had in my life especially the spiritual experiences. I struggled for weeks not knowing what to expect and I called a friend of mine, made an appointment and visited her at her house to talk about this.
This is my initiative, something I have been longing to do and I believe that it was granted me by God. I have had many spiritual experiences learning from different teachers, from Christianity to New thought and all of them have made a remarkable impact in my life. My friend just told me to go for it and do what I felt led to do and that was it for me!
I spoke to my cousin on 27 June 2017 and she asked me if I knew what my purpose was and funny enough, an hour before she asked me I had been thinking about it and I said to her that I believe that I was given the name Kgalalelo deliberately, which means Glory and that I am here on earth to glorify God and in return, God glorifies me. The scripture John 17:4-5 came to mind when Jesus said “I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began”. I believe that the work that I am doing, i.e. blogging and writing as I do is part of my life’s work on earth and that through it I glorify the Father who in return glorifies me because of His love and satisfaction of what I do. The Bible says “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving” (Colossians 23-24).
I also said to her that secondarily, I believe that I was called to awaken people to the power of gratitude that became the key for me when I found myself spiralling in the bottomless pit. God rescued me and handed me the key to the kingdom. So I began this blog and called it gratitude is my religion as I transformed the way I was thinking through a simple act of beginning a gratitude journal. So my purpose is to glorify God in all that I do and express gratitude for all that He is, what He has done for me and still do, all that I have and all that I experience. Expressing gratitude glorifies God and in glorifying God I express gratitude. Expressing gratitude is, therefore, my act of worship and praise to God, exalting and elevating Him. Ironically, this is a two-fold purpose, with double G (GG). These are the two important elements of my journey on earth that keeps me going daily. No one can fathom His greatness! The scripture says “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him" (1Corinthans 2:9).
I quarrelled with myself endlessly about the wrongness of this enterprise before, instead of the rightness of it. Wrongness in terms of appeasing people religiously in lieu of appeasing God in all His glory and the assignment He has given me. I feared that I might be crucified for bringing forth elements and topics that people perhaps don’t talk about. Who talks about the integrated approaches to spirituality in religion, for example? This was my very first blog post and I had to bring it across as there is wisdom all around the universe, I have learnt.
Two days ago as well, I said to my husband while reading spiritual work of another writer and teacher that I wanted to write just like him and my husband said to me “why don’t you write like you?” Wow! This reminded me that I have been given the angle to write about and it had nothing to do with how others are bringing the message across, it was about my own journey and what I thought I was looking for I already possessed. I had been led already to what I am supposed to be and how I should write and it had nothing to do with other people but has everything to do with what God has granted me.
Author Neale Donald Walsch says that your purpose has to do with the agenda of your soul. My soul seem to enjoy writing based on my own experiences and observations of life and phenomena as indicated in my ‘about page’. My reason for being has been there from the beginning and I am living it. It is never about the agenda of the flesh or the mind as the flesh perishes and goes back to the dust where it come from and the mind reasons but the soul flows naturally as it is one with the Mind of God.
Many people struggle a lot with finding the purpose of their lives but looking back, I realise that my purpose chose me when I was still in school and subsequently going to university. I always had a book with me, a diary to jot down my thoughts or some book to read. I was a book worm, studying hard at school all the time. When friends were out and about, I dedicated my time to my books. I loved my father’s collection of the James Hardly Chase series very much and I always set with a book on Saturdays and Sunday afternoons and away from the hustle and bustle of life, so books have always been my thing. When I was handed a university brochure by a classmate in Matric to select what possibly could be the area of interest to study, I chose Communication and even better print journalism. My passion was shaped from the teenage years and now it has matured and I love what I do, i.e. writing, doing it for myself, God and all people.
I know and understand very well that advice is galore out there about how to find your passion and your purpose in life. Books have been written, seminars held, sermons preached and many go for coaching lessons and to psychologists and everyone is doing their bit to help the best way they can. Perhaps my story can assist others as well, my approach could be of benefit to many and if you are willing, to try, go back to your teen years too and see what is it that has always tickled you, what has always been of interest to you and how did it come about that you lost it along the way, because it is not really lost but that fire is still burning inside of you awaiting you to fan it right back. It is never too late to follow the purpose that God has placed you on earth to do because where God operates there is no time nor space. God sees everything, is everything and is everywhere at the same time. He doesn’t age and can invigorate you right back to be able to fulfil your purpose.
I refer again to Neale Donald Walsch who is one of my favourite authors that I had a pleasure to meet and enjoy sitting right in front of him listening to his teachings. His mission and purpose in life was revealed to him when he was an adult, at the age of 49 when he started questioning God about the difficulties he was having in life and everything took off from there. He is now 73 years old and he is travelling around the world teaching the message of Conversations with God that was revealed to him. He doesn’t say that he is old to do this work but he is at his prime and the timing is perfect for him. When you go on his website he is holding seminars and having personal coaching sessions with everyone who needs assistance in understanding the message that came through him from God. He inspires me because at his age, he is still keeping strong and travelling. When I left the USA from attending his session in June he was preparing to travel to Barcelona to host yet another session. He is doing an incredible work and so can you and me.
Another favourite author of mine is Louise Hay, who will be turning 91 on the 8th of October 2017, the day that I was born. We share the birthday and she is still resilient. Hers is also one of the most incredible stories of all time, that of abuse, teenage pregnancy, marriage that resulted in divorce and finally picking herself up when she discovered the transformative power of thought. She now teaches about the power of positive affirmations that she believes can heal any sickness and disease. She wrote books and has led support groups. Her book, “You can heal your life” is one of the books that was my constant companion when I started my spiritual journey and integrated affirmations in my own life and the power of positive thinking. She has impacted people’s lives with her healing techniques that she used on herself to heal her own life and find peace and a purpose. She started her life’s work at the age of 47 in 1970 and in 1972 at the age of 49 started studying at the Science of Mind church in New York and eventually ordained as a minister. At the age of 91 she is still serving as she follows the agenda of her soul.
It’s never too late to discover what you are meant to do in life and what you have to do in this incarnation. Others discovered their life’s missions early and they are excelling in what they do and others begin late in life, when they have reached a certain stage of development or maturity. You can also discover your incarnation objective by paying attention to your life and your interests. Go back to your youth years, there might be treasure there waiting for you to recognise. Don’t give up on yourself.
Lord I offer you gratitude for Who you are, what you have done for me and how you revealed yourself to me during my teen years. I thank you that you have always seen me through, keeping a watchful eye on me. Thank you for every experience I have ever had in life as it was necessary for my growth and development. Thanks you for all the benefits and blessings I have enjoyed and still enjoy. Thank you that it’s all grace from you and thank you for loving me once again without any condition. Thank you for agape love. Amen.
