This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 Timothy 3:1-5
I might come under crucifixion on this one but I was watching a movie by Nicholas Cage (Jonathan in the movie) called Knowing produced in 2009. It’s based on numerology where disasters are predicted to occur at certain dates in different years. The piece of paper that contained the data was given to Jonathan’s son at school. It was written by a learner, Lucille five decades ago, which was a task that was given by the teacher that every learner should paint a picture of how the world would be like in 50 years’ time. Every child drew a picture except Lucille who wrote a page full of numbers which were years or dates of the catastrophes that would occur around the world and the number of casualties. She could see into the future and now 50 years later in the movie, when the paper was retrieved and Jonathan could figure out what all the numbers meant, he made it his assignment to decode the rest of the data and try to save his neighbourhood and its people as the next disaster was to strike his own surroundings.
As I was sitting there watching the movie a thought came to mind of something that has always played itself in my head that what if we could reverse or stop prophesy? I’ve always had this thought that it is well and good to have prophesy to warn us but do all prophesies of disasters really have to come true? We hear prophesies of calamity year in and year out everywhere by the prophets of God, in and outside the Bible and the clairvoyant but if we all participated in making the world a better place and changed our behaviour then some of the catastrophic prophesy don’t have to come to pass. Our thoughts and emotions, words and actions have brought us to where we are today and we are the only ones who can change it if we collaborate as a collective.
I thought of sickness for instance, there are many people who have been able to heal themselves somehow and stopped heinous diseases like cancer. Some have received prayer and through contact faith, have been cured. Conditions that had deteriorated were miraculously reversed and people completely healed. Positive collective consciousness can change things, there is proof all over that if we work towards good, we stop evil. We pray, meditate, affirm, and confess the Word of God and all of a sudden things begin to change. Prayer changes conditions as the mind comes into alignment with God. We have to do it all, with faith, believing that circumstances will certainly be altered.
When Jesus was hungry one morning and saw a leafy fig tree, he expected it to have fruit and when he found nothing, he cursed it. He stopped the natural processes of growth and production in that particular tree be it in season or out of season. He did it with His word and it was so and that fig tree stopped producing fruit from that day. Suppose we looked and treated everything in the very same manner including prophesy? There are many prophesies that so far haven’t taken place or never took place at all because the consciousness of the people has or did shift thus affecting the cosmos. Though there is still more work to be done as far as positive collective consciousness is concerned, many people are no longer entangled in the things of old or that were predicted to occur or cause disaster.
Jesus simply said to His disciples when they marvelled that the fig tree had withered “assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but also if you say to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea’, it will be done. And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive”. This is a powerful statement that indicates the kind of authority and power we actually have, though we do not fully realise it. There are a number of predictions and prophesies that have faded away or withered as a result of progressive and constructive thinking and action. There are many also that would never come to pass for as long as we get it right in terms of word, deed and thought.
The reverse could also be right. What if we are also delaying good things from happening in our lives that were prophesised just because we are failing to change mentally, take proper action to make things happen or we keep on affirming the negative in our lives? There could be a lot of wrong that we are doing as well as the right things we are doing too. The way we are going ensures the evolution of the world more and more. Jesus said that the time is not known, it will be like a thief. Is it because the conditions are not allowing presently because of the consciousness of the world? We do wrong then right, then wrong again, then right again. The Bible tells us about God’s everlasting mercies, they endure through eternity.
His mercies are renewed every day. We receive a new batch every morning, chance after chance. Hezekiah Walker sang the song “For you are the God of the second chance” and I would like to take it further and say He is the God of infinite chances. These chances takes forever, that is how mercy works, it is sustainable and God keeps everything together for His purposes. God is everywhere, He is omnipresent meaning that He is in every heart, every city, every location, every area, every plant and animal, in the air, in the soil, in the fire, in the water and places that you consciously don’t think God is in or can be found. We can never fathom his greatness and glory with our limited minds. He is in control and juggles everything in the air and if He is everywhere and knowing everything, He alone knows the mindset of His creation, the progress made so far in the lives of individuals and the collective.
He can see the direction we are all going, He hears every prayer all over the world and is able to influence things. When we repent He hears us, He knows every soul intimately and gives everyone a chance who comes honestly and surrenders. Jesus said it is only the father who knows because He created all things. His essence is in everything that lives. He understands His purpose for humanity and every creature on earth. He sees the dancing particles, rustling leaves, growling lions and birds singing across the world and at the same time. Everything is in resonance and doing what it’s supposed to. God can end the world right now. He could have ended it years ago. Jesus was crucified and ascended to heaven 2000 years ago and even more but we are still here on earth. We’ve had all kinds of misfortune and perhaps people thought it was the end but it wasn’t; we’ve had the tsunami, hurricanes, World War I and II and the end never came. We had the holocaust, droughts and poverty but still God gave us a chance and still does.
I never understood the first time I went to a Charismatic church when I heard the pastor say that if a murderer just before He died, confesses Jesus as his Lord and Saviour will be saved instantly and go to heaven. It seemed unfair to those that he killed or the families that are left behind to mourn but then I thought ‘who knows the Mind of God?’ Only God Himself. We don’t say that God is good for nothing. He is really good all the time and forgives sin from a repented heart. His grace is available to all who turn to Him.
We can transition smoothly into a new world and live in Christ without having to experience disasters in our lives. We can sing Halleluiah all the way without hurting and deceiving each other. Catastrophe is not a prerequisite to a life with Christ. We were not designed to wound each other nor be at the mercy of the natural adversities. We were not designed for struggle, poverty, disease and the like but for God’s glory. Think about the Garden of Eden for a moment. It was a place of pure consciousness, no harm at all but complete happiness and pure joy with God. We can experience and metamorphosize into that state without destroying each other and if all of us had to think in that way, imagine the smooth evolution that we can all benefit from. Isn’t it what everyone long for in any case?
I used to attend a meditation class that was called Ahimsa meditation group and ahimsa means non-violence in Sanskrit. We don’t have to keep on experiencing further destruction in any way if we all vibrate at a high level of consciousness. Pure thought, deed and word are all that is required and a constant state of gratitude to the One who has given us life. You might be tempted to think that I am wrong, but again, I could be right. It’s better to raise the state of worldly consciousness than await disaster to strike while doing nothing. There is a quote that says ‘I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn’t, than live as if there isn’t and to die to find out that there is (Albert Camus).
The call for change is urgent, one that would save the world and generations to come. Currently, it seem as if its only technology that is evolving. Different gadgets are manufactured and every year, new and improved models are formulated. Learners are encouraged to study towards the field of technology, which by the way is good. How I wish we could all ‘technologize’ ourselves spiritually in the same way. As we hear the Word of God, alter our ways, improve, give up old models like bitterness, resentment, anger, jealousy, envy, hatred and fear and begin to introduce love more. When we truly love each other, forgiveness is unnecessary because “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails” (1Corinthians 13:4-8).
But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away” (1Corinthians 13:8).
All particles and elements will thereby, correspond as there would be nothing inciting them to go out of hand. Harmony on earth, is born out of harmony in our minds and peace and harmony in the minds of all, produces a perfect state of paradise that was, In the Beginning…
