I wonder how may knots are we entangled into, when we view things with the eye of the spirit. If only we could see, we can realise and release ourselves from the mess we have gotten ourselves into. It could be the knot of anger against someone, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy and the like. These knots tie us together negatively and cause chaos in the spirit. We should pray that God may open our third eye that pierces into the spirit that we may perceive. Paul wrote in Ephesians 1:8, "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened”.
The gift of perception is not only for certain souls with special gifts but for all of us. There are, nonetheless, gifts that are more refined in certain souls than others or come naturally. These gifts fall under different categories, namely, clairvoyance (clear seeing), clairaudience (clear hearing), claircognizance (clear knowing), clairsentience (clear feeling), clairsalience (clear smelling). There may be more classes according to research, nevertheless, these are the most common ones we learn about every day.
If we page through the Bible as well, we encounter such souls or reference to such knowledge as stated by Paul above. In 2 Kings 6:17, we learn of Elisha’s prayer to God for his servant, He says to God, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha”.
The Arameans were waging war against Israel and the King of Aram wanted to capture Elisha who seemed to be troublesome as he warned Israel about the king’s every intention. When the king of Aram heard that Elisha was at Dothan, he summoned his army to go and capture him and with chariots they surrounded the city. When the servant saw the chariots, he became afraid and that’s when Elisha prayed because He could see in the spirit, his third eye was active.
Before then, the Bible records that for the King of Aram to send the army to capture Elisha, it was as a result of Elisha’s exercising of his clairaudient abilities, as chronicled, “The man of God sent word to the king of Israel: “Beware of passing that place, because the Arameans are going down there.” So the king of Israel checked on the place indicated by the man of God. Time and again Elisha warned the king, so that he was on his guard in such places.
This enraged the king of Aram. He summoned his officers and demanded of them, “Tell me! Which of us is on the side of the king of Israel?”
“None of us, my lord the king,” said one of his officers, “but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the very words you speak in your bedroom.” (2 Kings 6:9-12).
The Bible is full of evidence that these abilities are gifts from the Lord and we can ask the Lord for His grace to operate in all His giftings, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen” (Ephesians 3:20-21).
