January 14, 2019 by Kgalalelo
I have been on vacation leave since 24 December 2018 and I must say I am well rested. I am beginning my first day of work in 2019 today. I was able to literally switch off from everything including the news. Some might think I have been ignorant as I have been clueless as to what has been going on in the world. The only day I watched the news was on the first day of school last week Wednesday the 9th January. I love watching the little ones’ first day at school, they are very cute with their tiny uniform and some excited to start grade 1 while some not. Nonetheless, they have to go to school at some point.
I am very refreshed and ready to take on the new year. I have a lot on my plate that I need to accomplish this year. I had declared 2018 my year of rest and I did just that, the only thing that kept me busy was blogging, otherwise I had suspended every other activity to achieve only this year and now will get my hands busy. Amongst other things, I intend to study this year; we get a bit rusty if we sit idling for too long and besides, knowledge advances and I need to bring myself up to speed with the new developments in the academia. I can’t be holding on to the knowledge of yesterday, things have changed, there are new modalities to be explored.
It reminds me of the many arguments that I have heard around the bible and why Jesus spoke in parables instead of the normal language. I figured that the consciousness of the people of old was different and they needed just that, fables and illustrations to reach their level of understanding. The consciousness of people has shifted and more developed now and if Jesus was walking the earth today, His use of language would probably be different. Don’t get me wrong, He still speaks and we have the Holy Spirit living in us to teach us all things and reminds us of everything Jesus said when He was physically on earth (John 14:16). The Holy Spirit now reaches us in the languages and ways that we understand and available to us.
When I was still at university studying, we didn’t have the internet for instance, and in fact, the first time I learnt how to use a computer was at university. We never had computer laboratories at school especially public schools in the townships in the 1990s. I learnt how to type without being physically taught. We were introduced to a typing programme on the computer and had to figure out this typing thing all by ourselves in preparation for a typing test at the end of the semester. It was rough but it paid off at the end, no coach but the machine. There was no social media in those days as well and that forms part of the communication curricula for the students today. I bet more has been added that I need to know about including also sharing the realities of real work experience.
Studying and doing the actual work in the corporate environment proved to be two different things, I since learnt. I commend the institutions of today that try hard to expose students to the work environment through learnerships and internships; that goes a long way to prepare our students. Hopefully, someday, I will get to be one of those who get to share my own knowledge and research to assist those who are coming. Everyone can do their bit. We are all messengers of the light and being the light means that you let your own light shine. Jesus was bold to declare Himself many things, including being the light. He said in John 8:12 “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
In John 14:6 He says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”.
In John 6:35 He declares, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty”.
We need to be bold enough like Jesus to share and live the light we have been given. We all should come to a point where we are declared by our master “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!” (Matthew 25:23). We all have roles to fulfil in this life. Colossians 3:23-24 says “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving”.
You are also a messenger of the light. You have touched many lives unaware, have helped others and served in different capacities that have changed people’s lives. Being the messenger of the light doesn’t only mean that you have come to this world to share only spiritual knowledge, God reveals Himself in different ways, look at the impact that you are making in this world. You might think that your input is small but it is contributing to the whole.
Many have contributed and still contribute to worthy causes; you have fed the poor, taken care of the orphans, nursed people to health and shared your friendship with those who needed it. We need a nudge through others every so often, to remind us of who we are and what we are here to do. We need others to remove us from our comfort zone which is a place of complacency. I’ve decided to get up this year and find stuff that will enhance my life and others too, that we may all expand and move to where God wants us and be a messenger of the light I am meant to be.
When you get up from your comfort zone, you begin to live life to the fullest, the kind you were meant to live.
I had a special time with a friend last Friday afternoon at the Spur steak ranch. We met up for coffee and I thought she wanted to see me concerning publishing as she’s busy writing a book, however, our encounter was more than that. She was sent as a messenger of light, to push me a little and remind me of my own intentions by sharing hers and her own spiritual journey. What made an impact on me was the story she shared about the trance state she found herself in, and in that moment, she left her body and was united with God and the oneness and the unconditional love she said she felt is something that when she came out of it would be the greatest regret of her life if she never shared it with the world. It is the message that she just has to spread around.
Paul says is Romans 8:38-39 “And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus”.
We hear on the other hand in the bible about false apostles as far as things of the spirit are concerned. Scripture says these apostles are “deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). Such people will reap what they sow. We need to be sincere in our actions towards others to show that we are children of God and give of ourselves and serve without expecting for God is the rewarder of good deeds. We are children of God when we show love towards each other. The bible says in Hebrews 13:2 “Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it”. So, we need to extend brotherly and sisterly love to everyone and do to others what we would have them do to us (Luke 6:31).
