I was driving out of the basement parking area of the building of my workplace one afternoon when suddenly I had a vision. I saw my hands lifted up high to heaven and inside of my hands was a huge cloud and the hands themselves were shaped in the form of a cloud. I received the message instantaneously that I should lift up all my circumstances to heaven and place them at the throne of God as He is my redeemer. I had come to a point where I felt discouraged and frustrated that things were not going the way that I wanted them to go. Changes were occurring at the workplace and I felt like I didn’t have control over what was happening. Decisions were also being made that I couldn’t quite influence though I was affected and expected to work with what was presented.
I had to accept and adjust to the change that was taking place and having had control over the years, it was a difficult thing to give up. I had my own vision which didn’t match the new model and being the scholar of gratitude which God gave me as a lifeline in my time of despair I had to choose to view these circumstances in a different light and especially how they could better serve me. I needed to find things within these circumstances that I could be grateful for and how at the highest level they benefitted me. I didn’t see a way out nor did I know exactly what to do next and I was prompted through a vision to put all these things in a spiritual bowl and raise that bowl to heaven and present it to God. He would know what to do as He always does.
When I arrived home I informed by husband that I needed to go to the meditation room in the house at once. We have a room that we use at home dedicated for prayer and meditation and once a month, we have fellowship with some of the church members and use that room for communion and encouragement in the Lord. So I went into the meditation room and closed the door. I have a small radio with CDs that I play often before I begin to pray or meditate just to prepare my mind and help myself concentrate. This time, I didn’t need the music as my circumstances were urgent and I had to treat them as such.
I once said in one of my articles that when the Holy Spirit speaks to you, heed the message, otherwise you forget and lose the importance of the communication. We often play ignorant as people and dismiss critical messages that would save us. God does communicate in more than one way and we need to be aware and alert of any manner of communication. I sat on my couch, lit a candle and began lifting my circumstances in prayer and spent some time in the room being with the Lord. The Lord reminded me of an event in the Bible in Exodus 17:8. The Amalekites had declared war against Israel and Moses instructed Joshua to choose men from Israel and go fight the Amalekites. He said to him that he would go stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in his hand.
“So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And so it was, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses’ hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. So Joshua defeated Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword” (Exodus 17:10-13).
Israel won the war when Moses’ hands were lifted up to heaven with the staff on his hand. When his hands were down, the enemy triumphed and so an act of worship was required throughout the war. I continued to pray with my own hands lifted up as guided in the vision as if I was holding the situations in my hands inside a bowl and knew that God will absolutely come through for me. He always has my back because I put my trust in Him. When you reach a dead end in your circumstances the only thing you can do for yourself is to reach out to God. He doesn’t intervene until you ask Him to as He has given you free will but if He shows you something, it will be to your favour to follow through. He respects His own laws and never slips-up like we do. We often forget the things that we pray for and act surprised when something shows up.
Within a week, the matter was settled. I didn’t have to do anything to resolve my own circumstance as God Himself mediated. Everything is easy and effortless with Him. He positioned all things in their right places on His own and detached me from the equation completely. Psalm 23 says “He makes me lie in green pastures, He restores my soul”. This is how I felt afterwards that I was walking in the meadows and I could actually envision myself walking without any care in the world. It was all green around me and I could roll on the grass and smell the clean air in the fields not being bothered by anything. Everything was taken care of without my interference. I received progress reports without asking for them and my work colleagues were receptive to the goals of the organisation on their own and before I could utter a word on anything, that particular function was handled and the corporate office acted promptly.
God says in Isaiah 43:1-2,
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze”
He further says “I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:18). This is the God that we serve. His divine favour rests upon His children. He doesn’t give you any vision that He doesn’t fulfil. He says further up in Isaiah 55:10-12,
“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
and do not return to it without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth;
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace”
I became excited as all these scriptures surfaced and realised that I have God’s favour in my life and so do you. He wants nothing but to serve me as His child. He sends the angels who are ministering spirits to serve those who have inherited salvation (Hebrews 1:14). I noticed how all these scriptures have been deposited in my spirit back when I was in Bible school and time spent in the Word, in prayer and in the church. They were already there and He reminded me as I was praying and when preparing this article. It surely is good to know the Lord. I heard a song in a church one time that said,
“Isn’t it good to know the Lord?
Isn’t it good to praise His name?
Isn’t it good to know that He’s always there for us?
Isn’t it good to know the Lord?”
The answer is absolutely yes! God is our refuge and fortress and you can run to Him in the thick of things, no matter where you are and what you are doing. He doesn’t require a special place to converse with Him; anywhere you are He is there, in your car, in the shop, at work, when you are out for a walk, He has a very sharp listening ear that doesn’t miss even the smallest whisper of help.
You won’t have to do anything, He delights in giving you the Kingdom. Our problem is that we don’t ask enough, it could be because of our conditioning, beliefs, culture or even so, our small mindedness and a lack of faith in God. I can just hear Him now say to me and you “Try me”. With God, you don’t have to come with anything, truly so, you come just the way you are. He already knows what’s on your mind before you even utter a word, however, it is noble to speak to Him, not only through thoughts but words. Speaking about your concerns helps you relieve the tension instead of just thinking about them.
I’m grateful for God’s favour in my life
I’m grateful for His grace over me
I’m grateful for His goodness and mercy that follows me wherever I go
I’m grateful for His abundant love for me
I’m grateful that I can call on me at anytime of the day
