When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray He said “Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. As above so below, that is the simplicity of it basically. Heaven can be a place and a state of consciousness. I believe whenever I feel positive, joyful, happy, loving and peaceful, I am in heaven. Heaven is my home and I want to be home all the time. Experiencing heaven as a result, doesn’t mean that you have to die first, but you can experience heaven while sitting on your sofa in your living room. Heaven to me means complete alignment with the Source of all, God.
God’s will is always done in heaven because heaven is His dwelling place. It is a place of holiness and the highest vibration you could find. It is a place with no vices but purity of thought, word and deed. It is a place that knows no dis-ease or ill-emotion unlike here on earth. We can replicate earth to look like heaven if we work as a collective to change the consciousness of the planet and everyone who lives in it. We have moved so far away from home and many have even forgotten the way. Others find the path and reach home for a while and then leave. We depart with our thoughts thus producing undesirable emotions, words and deeds.
I sometimes think about the people who are going through depression and feel compassion for them as I was once there, relying on anti-depressants and seeing a professional, weekly. I am no medical expert and the methods I employed had their place and contributed to my healing but I believe that if you are suffering from depression you can decide to find your way home to God like I did and you would never need antidepressants or anything that temporarily alters your emotions for you to feel better. I immersed myself into the Word of God, prayer and meditation, spiritual books and spent all of my Sundays in church and being home with God helped me overcome depression.
The state of being depressed swallows you up as you don’t see any hope of things ever improving, however, if you are home with God, if you are in heaven while on earth then every negative thing and every circumstance that is troubling you disappears. It is my prayer that everyone who is suffering from depression could stumble upon this article today and read that they also may be saved as I was. There are many things that cause us to be depressed, death of a loved one, challenges at work, termination of a relationship, sickness and disease, struggle of any sort, a lack of finances and many others. You can choose which category you have been as all of us experience all of these one way or the other, however, returning home is always the solution. As a result, you realise that you are a visitor on this earth. Your home is in heaven with God. The things that you are going through are just temporary as ultimately, we will all return home to God if we so choose, through death, but we don’t have to suffer if you have a loving Father whose arms are always open and welcoming.
You can return right now where you are and in an instant be home with your Creator. He is the only one who understands intensely what you are going through and how you got there. We have experts who have been trained to deal with mental illnesses and psychological problems, however, God is the Chief Psychologist, Counsellor, Psychiatrist, Doctor, Social Worker, Priest and the like. Finding your way home to God is a precious gem that is available to you. Many have tried to numb their pain through drugs, alcohol, sex, multiple relationships and all sorts of things you can do on earth but these are incomparable to reaching out to the source of happiness, joy and peace, which is God. There is a parable of a mustard seed in the Bible. I once went to a church where the pastor was preaching about faith of a mustard seed and he had brought the seed to church to demonstrate. Everyone of us got up from our seats, went to the altar where the jar was, so that we can look at the seed and take some. It is a tiny seed, extremely small. The Bible says that you need just little faith as small as the mustard seed and then you can say to the mountain be removed and thrown into the sea and this is how you find your way home. You use the little faith you have.
You can reach out to God in prayer and ask Him to help you find the path or simply realise that it has always been there and has never disappeared and get on it. God is always available for us 24/7. The Bible says He doesn’t sleep nor slumber, He can be reached at any time. God is a parent and a friend at the same time. Stretch out your hand and speak to the Lord Jesus to assist you for He said He is the way, the truth and the life. He is the path Himself that takes us home. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are One. The way has been provided for us and it doesn’t require any money and is not rocket science that it is difficult to understand nor does it require any affiliation, you can reach out to God right in your bedroom and be home in an instant.
When we read in Deuteronomy 28: 1-14 Moses gave the Israelites the benefit of being home and that came with obedience unto God. He said to the people of Israel:“And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
“The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. The Lord will command the blessing on you in your barns and in all that you undertake. And he will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you. The Lord will establish you as a people holy to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. And the Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, within the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them, and if you do not turn aside from any of the words that I command you today, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them”.
It’s nearing the end of the year and be encouraged today. Do not allow yourself to end this year without returning home to your maker because there is peace that surpass all understanding awaiting you at home. There is nothing for you away from home but strife. I often say to people that without God, I am nothing. Home with God is a safety net, it is comforting, warm, loving and secure. David also took the liberty of describing for us how it feels like to live at home with God in Psalm 91, he says that:
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honour him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation”.
