I was sitting in meditation one morning when the thought of leadership came to my mind. I considered leaders in organisations and businesses, in churches and in the country in general and the Holy Spirit impressed on my mind that one of the roles of leadership is to resolve problems in a compassionate way.
I had been wondering why at times we brought all kinds of issues onto the leadership without resolving these ourselves and only consulting with the authorities with the possible solutions. I have been educated in that manner, to be the solution seeker whether I was on the right track or not. It was a sign of great servanthood and besides, leaders required people who had initiative all the time, and so I thought.
The Holy Spirit at that point placed in my awareness that humans are not on the same level of consciousness and that what one perceives easy to resolve could be hidden in another’s awareness. Even Jesus testified to this truth when He said “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes” (Luke 10:21). There are certain things that are just hidden from the consciousness of others and revealed to those who have been elected to lead.
God places certain people in leadership roles in different areas of society because he has granted them a higher level of perception, insight and discernment to make wise decisions on behalf of others or the organisations they serve. Even though we do not understand sometimes why people are brought into our lives, God carefully selects people whose journey relies on your knowledge and awareness occasionally and your presence serves as a guiding light for others. Your higher awareness, be it academic, spiritual, political, social, environmental or economical knowledge has been granted for a divine purpose. This understanding remains hidden to the mind of the many and if you are not attuned to the divine as a leader, you might experience a great deal of frustration and regard others to be unperceptive.
I sat for a while with this revelation and realised the true meaning of the words of Jesus that we are indeed the light of the world. Some people are placed in specific roles because they are the light bearers for others and their displacement could fill that location with darkness or unsettle the place if the displacement was premature and the mandate of being there was not yet fulfilled from a spiritual perspective. Things can easily go into disarray all of a sudden or fall apart as an indication that the shift has occurred and the light seem to be gone.
Jesus was a leader while he lived on earth as a man, He led His disciples and those who followed Him and still leads by virtue of being the Son of God. He guided, taught and served as a sign of true leadership. The Bible tells us that just before Passover and close to His crucifixion while having supper with His disciples, He “got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him” (John 13: 4-5).
Jesus understood the level of intelligence of His followers including those who were above Him according to the worldly system and those who wanted Him crucified. He could read right through them and was attuned with their consciousness. He was also fully attuned with the Mind of God and knew who He was all the time. His awareness was always heightened and there was no time where He forgot Who He was. He prayed and fasted and sat with the Father that He may not lose Himself in the system of the world. He knew the time of His crucifixion and even when He was on the cross He said Father forgive them, for they no not what they do” (Luke 23:34). He understood the field of awareness and so was filled with compassion when He looked at people knowing that others were walking and yet asleep.
Patience is required to see beyond the undeveloped awareness of others. Consciousness is therefore critical and when you realise the level in which you are consciously this is liberating as it brings understanding. You begin to see things differently and approach people with compassion rather than exasperation. Jesus said clearly don’t judge lest you be judged yourself. He comprehended that all of us fall asleep every now and then and when we are awake, pointing another’s pitfall doesn’t mean that we have arrived. Consciousness is vast and can take a lifetime to unravel and so we need to be compassionate with others. He said don’t look at the speck in your brother’s eye while you have a massive log in yours. We all have the same shortfalls in different ways.
I was really touched by this message as I looked at my own role in different leadership activities that I have participated in. I perceived myself as a mother and how I needed to be patient with my children as a part of their consciousness was still asleep or not fully developed. I could guide them with the utmost love as there are times when they pay attention but other times they do not take anything into cognisance.
I’ve led people in various activities and projects in my career and had to remind myself sometimes that I might be on the fifth floor of awareness while others are still on the fourth level or vice versa. I could think that I got it only to find that I’m mistaken and as Jesus demonstrated, that’s when I need to serve too, pay attention, hear and also listen.
Patience is the highest form of love, I’ve learnt. The Bible teaches us that God is slow to anger, meaning He is patient and abounds in love. He understands the shortcomings of the humans He Himself created, hence we also read that His mercies are new every day. He gives us chance after chance to redeem ourselves and make things right.
We need to understand that we are both interrelated and interconnected and everyone comes into our lives for reasons known to God and for our own development and evolution. Souls evolve in different environments; in marriages, families, work and love relationships and in spiritual structures of society or even on a personal plane. Every aspect touches our lives in different ways and some of the circumstances of our evolution may look and sound ridiculous but if we move into a higher field of consciousness we would bring understanding into each area. Jesus set an example for all of us and to move higher requires commitment as well as to remain attuned.
I am grateful that this message was revealed to me as the Lord was ministering to me and all those who need to hear this message because they find themselves in similar situations. Do not wonder anymore and begin to understand your worth and reason for being. Halleluiah!
