Just when I thought that winter was exiting, we get one of the coldest days in the country. The temperature hit the minus’s again today and, in the afternoon, it only picked up to 13°C. I can’t wait for Spring, my birth season, but by the look and feel of things, it might still be cold for atleast a week or two in September.
Spring day used to be wonderful and springy and hot and fun but now, things have changed. The scientists will tell you a story behind these unpredictable seasons and I think the most part of it, we have something to do with it. Where humans are, there’ll always be some fiddling around with something that should be left as is.
I was telling my children the other day that I used to see locusts when I was growing up, big, green with a pinkish-reddish colour underneath the wings. I don’t see those anymore nor beautiful butterflies and it has nothing to do with location, they were everywhere. A lot has changed and keep on changing.
I don’t know where we are heading to but I trust God. Whatever is happening, I know that good will come out of it. “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose” (Romans 8:28). I’m speaking as someone who has been called according to His purpose and you are too, if you believe and cling to God.
For believers, good always comes out of a bad or unclear situation and we have to sit and relax knowing that God is in control. It is difficult for humans to sit still and hand over the steering wheel to God but that is what we have to do in these uncertain times.
Isaiah 60:1-2 says, "Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you”. No matter what happens, you are safe child of God for He has you covered.
Even though we go through difficulties, God is with us. He won’t let you down. The cold will soon come to an end and when it does and we start enjoying the heat, hopefully we won’t complain. David says, in Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me”.
They say that tough times don’t last but tough people do. Challenges never last long in life and we need to understand that when we go through the winter seasons in our life that they will be over. We need to hang in there, arise and shine.
Even when darkness covers the earth, Jesus says, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).
Have faith in God and all will go well with you, no matter what is happening around you. Hang on and hang on really tight. The storms of life will shake you, but when you trust in God, He will get you through anything. Believe.
